Carpet Cleaning FAQ

  • How long will it take to clean my carpets?

Most appointments are from 45 minutes to 2 hours. On average, setup time takes about 30 minutes. It will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on the size of the room, the amount of furniture to be moved, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

  • Do you move furniture when you clean carpet?

We prefer it if our customers move their furniture before we arrive. If the customer is unable to move the furniture, we can provide that service at an extra cost. Our technicians are trained to assist with moving various furniture items. However, some larger or delicate pieces, such as pianos, electronics, china cabinets, beds, large dressers/hutches, etc., may not be included. We will do our best to accommodate your specific needs. For more details, feel free to discuss your requirements during your cleaning appointment.

  • What types of payment do you accept?

Our location accepts check, cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

  • Do you guarantee removal of all spots or stains in the carpet?

We cannot guarantee that we will remove all carpet spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor the carpet fibers. The age of the carpet and the type of carpet fibers also play a factor in this. The technician will try to determine if this is the case prior to cleaning, but they are not always able to determine this before trying to remove the spots.

  • Do I need to vacuum before carpet cleaning?

A light vacuuming in the traffic areas is recommended but not required. The equipment is vacuuming the entire time we are cleaning.

  • What method do you use for carpet cleaning?

The method we use for carpet cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning. Marinucci’s Carpet Cleaning exclusive hot water extraction method removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently. Hot, soft water and a specially formulated cleaning solution are injected deep within the carpet fibers. Then, a powerful suction extracts deep-down dirt, allergens, cleaning solution, and 95% of the moisture. It’s the cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers.

  • I have had my carpet cleaned, but the spots have reappeared. What should I do?

Although most spots that are removed from carpet do not reappear, some substances in carpet backing may wick to the surface after cleaning. If this happens, please contact us immediately.

  • Do you steam clean carpets?

We often receive questions about steam cleaning carpet. At Marinucci’s Carpet Cleaning, we do not steam clean carpet. We use a process called hot water extraction to clean carpet, which is often referred to as steam cleaning because of the steam you see as we clean. We use our patented carpet cleaning machines to deep clean. These machines pump hot water into your carpet to release any dirt deep within the fibers, then extract the water and remove the dirt. The powerful suction removes a significant amount of water so your carpet will dry within hours.

  • Will carpet cleaning get rid of fleas in my carpet?

We cannot guarantee carpet cleaning will get rid of all the fleas. We usually recommend that the customer kill the adult fleas first by whichever method they prefer. This is something that a professional exterminator might be able to help with. Please keep in mind that the carpet is not the only place fleas will lay eggs, and you might want to consider having your upholstery treated and cleaned as well as any area rugs or pet beds.

  • How long will it take for my carpet to dry after a carpet cleaning?

The time it takes for your carpet to dry fully depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and airflow. Typically, it ranges from 8 to 24 hours, considering these variables. To expedite drying, utilize fans in the cleaned rooms and adjust your air conditioning or heating system accordingly based on the season. Keep the protective blocks under furniture legs and any paper beneath upholstered items until both the carpet and furniture are completely dry to prevent potential color transfer. While you can walk on your carpet right after cleaning, refrain from wearing outdoor shoes to avoid re-soiling. We recommend clean rubber-soled shoes for this purpose. Exercise caution when transitioning from damp carpeted areas to non-carpeted ones to prevent slipping accidents.

  • How often should I get my carpets cleaned?

The recommended frequency boils down to a few factors: the level of usage, the type of fabric, the number of people in your household, and the presence of pets or children. Generally, it's recommended that carpets get professionally cleaned at least once every 12 to 18 months. However, if your carpets see heavy usage, it may be necessary to clean them more frequently.

For households with pets, cleaning carpets every six months is recommended. Many pets shed a lot, which leads to fur and dander embedded in the fibers of your carpets over time. This can trigger respiratory symptoms in those with allergies or asthma. Pets may also leave a variety of stains on carpets, which can be difficult to remove if left unattended for an extended period.

If you have children, your carpets are again at higher risk for stains and dirt. Children also tend to be more active and can create more messes quickly.

  • Why do your prices vary from other carpet cleaners?

When comparing carpet cleaning prices, make sure you ask a lot of questions, and please keep a few things in mind. Our price includes treating for spots, moving basic pieces of furniture, and a 10-day satisfaction policy. There are no hidden fees or additional charges. Also, we never subcontract, so our technicians are always background checked, drug tested, and properly trained employees. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work.

  • I have heard that cleaning my carpet will make it soil faster. Is that true?

This issue arises when residues linger in the carpet, drawing in dirt. Typically, it stems from incomplete rinsing of soap used in cleaning. Our tailored solution and meticulous hot water extraction method ensure minimal residue remains, preventing dirt attraction.

  • How do you guarantee customer satisfaction with carpet cleaning?

We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise. In some cases this can mean spot cleaning specific areas of concern or even completely re-cleaning the area in question. In the end, we’re not satisfied until you are. Please contact Marinucci’s Carpet Cleaning at 541-435-1104 if you have any concerns.

Carpet Protection/Scotch Guard FAQ

  • Why should I have a protector applied to my cleaned carpets?

As the final step in your thoroughly cleaned carpet, our specifically formulated protector is professionally applied. These products shield your carpet from dry dirt, water, and oil-based spills by enveloping each fiber in a protective coating. This added layer grants you extra time to address spills and spots before they penetrate the fibers, ensuring your carpet maintains its pristine appearance between professional cleanings. Additionally, it simplifies vacuuming and spot cleaning tasks.

  • Does carpet come with a protector?

A dry soil protector comes on most carpet from the manufacturers. This is a wear-dated product and is removed over time with everyday traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend that you have this protector reapplied about once a year and perhaps more often in heavy traffic areas.

Upholstery Cleaning FAQ

  • How Often Should I Get My Upholstery Cleaned?

The recommended frequency boils down to a few factors: the level of usage, the type of fabric, the number of people in your household, and the presence of pets or children. Generally, it's recommended that upholstery gets professionally cleaned at least once every 12 to 18 months. However, if your furniture sees heavy usage, it may be necessary to clean it more frequently.

For households with pets, cleaning upholstery every six months is recommended. Many pets shed a lot, which leads to fur and dander embedded in the fibers of your upholstery over time. This can trigger respiratory symptoms in those with allergies or asthma. Pets may also leave a variety of stains on upholstery, which can be difficult to remove if left unattended for an extended period.

If you have children, your couch is again at higher risk for stains and dirt. Children also tend to be more active and may play on your furniture, which can cause the fabric to wear out more quickly.

Tile & Grout Cleaning FAQ

  • How do you clean my tile and grout?

We scrub each individual grout line as well as tiles with tile and grout-specific cleaners. We clean using high pressure that hooks up to our truck-mounted unit that will extract the dirt and grime embedded in the grout lines.

  • Do I have to use special floor cleaner if I have the sealant applied?

To preserve the life of the sealant, we recommend that you use a neutral cleaner to clean your tile and grout. Rinsing after mopping will also help keep your floors looking their best. You will want to avoid bleach and other harsh chemical cleaners, as these can wear away at the sealant and cause it to break down prematurely.

  • Why should I have my grout lines sealed?

Grout is a porous material that absorbs soil and spills, just like carpet. Having a sealant applied will help create a protective barrier, giving you more time to clean up dirt and liquid spills before they soak into the grout. The type of sealant you choose will determine the degree of stain resistance.

  • How long do I have to stay off the floor after sealant has been applied?

We recommend that you wait 30 minutes before walking on the floor to allow the sealant to dry. It will take 24 hours for the sealant to cure completely, so we suggest that you avoid any liquid coming in contact with the sealant during that time.

  • Can you steam clean grout?

We are often asked about steam cleaning tile and grout. At Marinucci’s Carpet Cleaning, we do not use steam to clean. We use a process called hot water extraction to clean grout, which is often referred to as steam cleaning because of the steam you see as we clean.

  • How often should I have my tile floor cleaned?

Many factors must be considered when determining the frequency of tile and grout cleaning. Foot traffic, children, pets, and routine floor maintenance will affect how often you need to have your tile and grout cleaned. To maintain the best condition, it is advisable to have a professional deep cleaning every 12 months.

  • Why should I have my tile and grout cleaned?

Just like carpet, dirt builds up over time, dulling your tile’s appearance and discoloring your grout. A thorough, professional tile and grout cleaning is the only way to remove the deep-down dirt.
